Welcome to Worksop and District Photographic Society.
The Society meets on Wednesday evenings at 7:30pm from September to April at Worksop Cricket & Sports Club, Central Avenue, Worksop, a comfortable venue with bar facilities, adequate parking and wheelchair access.
We welcome new members and provide the means for anyone interested in photography to meet other enthusiasts, learn new skills and get more from their hobby.
All levels of ability are welcome and an expensive camera is not a pre-requisite as excellent pictures can be produced using simple equipment.
Have a look at our Programme which is carefully planned and each season we endeavour to provide something of interest to everyone including lectures, competitions, tutorials and practical evenings.
Throughout the season we run competitions for prints and digital images as well as inter-club events where members can enter work to be judged alongside that from other societies in the area. However, whilst competitions are instructive they are not compulsory and many of our members come along to listen to the lectures, look at images and learn from the practical, tutorial and project sessions and the work produced by more experienced photographers.
We do not claim to be a photographic school but new members should not be discouraged if they require assistance; tell us what help you need and we will do our best. We can, if necessary, provide advice on courses, equipment and software to enhance your hobby.
We organise occasional Saturday outings to avariety of locations where you can improve your skills with assistance from more experienced members.
We also organise monthly evening outings during the May to August period when the society takes a break.
If you would like to learn more do come along on a Wednesday evening, there is no obligation and you are welcome to attend a couple of meetings before deciding if you would like to join us.
